When Bop recently caught up with cutie Kevin Zegers, he had just finished filming four (yes, you read right, four) feature flicks-the upcoming Treasure Island, Nico the Unicorn, It Came From The Sky, and Zea The Flea and His Bad Dad. And as a result of being such an unbelievably hard worker, 14 year old Kevin hasn’t had much hang time to himself lately.
So do you think this babe was bummed? It sure didn’t seem like it when we chatted with him. But being the busybodies we are (because we love to bring you Boppers the inside scoop), we had to probe the performer just a little to find out whether or not he’d really rather be home with the fam, hanging with his best buds or playing hockey, his fave sport, instead if acting, "No Way!" the Canadian native exclaims.
Of course, it’s tough for the star of 1997’s Air Bud and its 1998 follow-up Air Bud: Golden Receiver, to leave his family and friends behind in St. Mary’s, Ontario, Canada. "I do miss them," frowns the dimpled cutie, whose mom, Mary-Ellen, lives with them in Los Angeles, California while he’s filming. "But I think I can sacrifice being away from home for a little while for doing what I do right now."
Besides, Kev’s got a weapon for battling the homesick blues: the telephone. He chats with his sisters, Krista and Katie, "before they go to school and then when the come home," he beams. "And I talk to my dad (Jim) every day too!"
This smartie sounds like a totally dedicated dud, both to his fam and to his career, that’s why, he says since he’s doing what he loves to do he doesn’t wonder what would happen "if I didn’t do this or I didn’t do that "even if it means misses out on certain things. "I mean," Kevin looks to the bright side, "some kids would die to be in my position." You’ve got that right!
